Because each piece is individually created, minor differences in color, finish, map-line thickness, stone placement, metal texture, scale or spacing may occur. These subtle variations are part of the personalized production process and are not considered defects.

Personalized Map Details

MapInLove jewelry is created from the address, map position and personalization options selected by the customer.

Some map designs contain fine, openwork lines that recreate real streets and locations. To improve strength, durability and visual balance, our production team may make small adjustments to delicate map lines.

These necessary adjustments will not change the meaning of your selected location and are not considered production errors.

Everyday Care

To help protect your jewelry:

Remove it before showering, bathing or swimming
Avoid wearing it while exercising or sleeping
Keep it away from chlorine, salt water and excessive moisture
Avoid direct contact with perfume, lotion, hairspray and cosmetics
Remove jewelry before using household cleaning products
Handle delicate map lines, chains, clasps and engravings carefully
Do not pull, bend or apply pressure to the personalized design

A helpful rule is to put your jewelry on last when getting ready and take it off first at the end of the day.

Water and Moisture

Repeated exposure to water and moisture may affect the appearance of metal, plating, stones and engraved details.

Always remove your jewelry before:

Washing your hands for extended periods
Showering or bathing
Swimming
Exercising
Entering a sauna or hot tub
Cleaning with water or chemicals

If your jewelry becomes wet, gently dry it with a clean, soft cloth before storing it.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

After wearing your jewelry, gently wipe it with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove oils, moisture and residue.

Do not use:

Abrasive cloths or brushes
Toothpaste
Bleach or harsh chemicals
Alcohol-based cleaners
Silver dips
Ultrasonic or steam cleaners

Unless specifically recommended on the product page, these methods may damage the finish, stones, engraving or delicate map details.

Caring for Plated Jewelry

Plated finishes may gradually change or fade over time due to normal wear, skin chemistry, moisture and exposure to chemicals.

To help preserve the finish:

Limit contact with water and sweat
Avoid perfume, lotion and cleaning products
Wipe the piece after each wear
Store it separately in a dry place
Avoid rubbing it against harder jewelry or surfaces

Gradual fading, tarnishing or changes caused by normal wear are not considered manufacturing defects.

Caring for Stones

If your piece includes a center stone or other decorative stones:

Avoid dropping or striking the jewelry against hard surfaces
Do not pull or press directly on the stone
Keep it away from strong chemicals and abrasive cleaners
Check the setting occasionally before wearing

If a stone appears loose, stop wearing the piece and contact our customer care team.

Storing Your Jewelry

Store your jewelry in its original box, a soft pouch or a separate compartment in a jewelry case.

For best protection:

Keep each piece separate to prevent scratching and tangling
Fasten chains before storing them
Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight and humidity
Do not store it in a bathroom
Place it flat without bending or pressing the map design

Natural Wear

Jewelry naturally changes with time and wear. Depending on the material and finish, you may notice:

Light surface scratches
Gradual fading of plated finishes
Natural tarnishing or oxidation
Slight changes in shine or color

These changes are normal and can be reduced through careful wearing, cleaning and storage.
